NCBA 2024 Tea Fields Trophy Set for Kericho Golf Club

The NCBA 2024 Tea Fields Trophy is poised to take place at the scenic Kericho Golf Club from October 25th to 27th, 2024. This prestigious event has attracted a remarkable field of 64 players.

Among the competitors are notable home player Tej Bachu, John Kamais from Nakuru Golf Club, and Nyali Golf and Country Club representative William Odek. The lineup also features Joyce Wanjiru of Kiambu and Michael Tumusiime from Entebbe Golf Club.

The prize money for this year’s NCBA Tea Fields Trophy tournament is Four Hundred Thousand (KSh 400,000), with the winner set to take home Seventy Four Thousand (KSh 74,000). Players will compete in a 54-hole stroke play format over three rounds of 18 holes each day. The championship is based on gross scores, with a cut-off after Round 2 where only the top 33 players and ties will advance to Round 3. The draw for the final round will be seeded according to performance.

The competition will adhere to the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Limited, along with local rules established by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) and the KAGC tournament regulations.

“I sincerely want to thank the main sponsor of this event, NCBA, who are also the primary sponsors of this year’s KAGC series, for providing a platform where we can earn a living and showcase our skills,” said John Kamais(player). “NCBA’s support has made a significant impact on the lives of the players, allowing them to meet their basic needs and pursue their passion for golf more seriously.”

John Kamais has emerged as a prominent player this season, having won one event in the KAGC series and finishing second at the recently concluded Diani Beach Masters. Currently ranked 5th in the KAGC standings, Kamais is poised for a bright future in golf.

David Ndung’u, Chairman of the KGU, noted, “This year’s series has attracted more players than previous years, and this achievement is largely due to the generous sponsorship from NCBA. Their support has enabled players to focus on their performance and improve their living standards. We are also seeing increased participation from juniors and the ladies, which is a fantastic development for the sport.”

As excitement builds for the NCBA 2024 Tea Fields Trophy, the stage is set for an exhilarating display of talent, camaraderie, and sportsmanship at Kericho Golf Club
