NCBA Golf Park Open Set for 8th to 10th November 2024 at The Golf Park Golf Club

The 3rd Edition of the NCBA Golf Park Open is set to take place from 8th to 10th November 2024 at the prestigious Golf Park Golf Club, situated at the Ngong’ Racecourse. This year’s event has drawn an impressive field of 78 players, including seven talented lady golfers, making it one of the most exciting editions of the tournament yet.

The list of participating ladies includes top names such as Bianca Ngecu from Muthaiga Golf Club, Naomi Wafula of Vipingo Ridge, and Riddima Singh from India, alongside Margaret Njoki, Nancy Wairimu, Benta Kanili, and Mercy Nyanchama, all from Golf Park Golf Club. Their presence at the tournament highlights the growing participation of women in competitive golf in Kenya and beyond.

This year’s NCBA Golf Park Open boasts an increased prize pool of Five hundred thousand (KSh 500,000), with the winner set to take home a substantial One hundred and fifteen thousand Kenya Shillings (KSh 115,000). The competition promises to be fierce as the golfers battle it out for the prestigious title.

Defending champion Sammy Mulama who will also be at his home course is eager to retain his crown and has expressed confidence in his preparation for the event. “I’ve been sharpening my skills and am looking forward to another successful year. The competition will be tough, but I’m ready to give my best and defend my title,” Mulama said.

As the 2024 NCBA KAGC Series nears its conclusion, Michael Karanga continues to lead the standings with 722 points, holding a commanding lead ahead of John Lejirma who has 646 points. With just three events remaining in the series, the competition for the top spot is heating up, making the Golf Park Open a key fixture in the overall standings.

In addition to the elite field of players, this year’s NCBA Golf Series has seen an increase in the participation of juniors and ladies, thanks to the continued and generous sponsorship of NCBA. The bank has been a driving force behind the development of golf in Kenya, supporting both seasoned players and rising stars across all categories.

Speaking about NCBA’s continued commitment to the sport, Chris Kinuthia, Vice Chairman and Tournaments Director Kenya Golf Union, shared: “We are glad for the continued support from NCBA. This support continues to provide opportunities for golfers of all skill levels, including ladies and juniors, to showcase their talents and grow the game of golf in Kenya. As the event draws closer, all eyes will be on Golf Park Golf Club as players from across Kenya and beyond vie for victory in one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year.
