Bolt Food celebrates a year of growth and quality service delivery to its customers

Bolt Food, the leading food delivery platform in Nairobi is celebrating its first anniversary since its entry into the Kenyan market.

The service was launched in Nairobi in March 2021, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic which was characterized by lockdowns, curfews and takeaways options for most restaurants. Bolt Food’s entry into the market gave users access to a wide array of restaurants and menus at the tap of a button, as well as offered a needed boost to the customer base for various restaurants.

To mark their first anniversary, Bolt Food is celebrating its customers, couriers and restaurant partners, for their commitment to quality operations, including exemplary customer experience, short delivery times, creation of viable economic opportunities, and the many exciting offers it has provided to its customers. Bolt Food is offering its customers great discounts of up to 40%, in select restaurants, in celebration of its anniversary.

Over the one-year period, Bolt Food has brought convenience to many Nairobians through quality food deliveries at affordable costs, and created earning opportunities for hundreds of couriers and restaurant owners within Nairobi and its environs. The brand has developed an ecosystem of partners, with more than 5000 couriers actively operating on the platform, and over 900 quality restaurants currently operating on the platform.

“This celebration is a recognition of the Bolt Food team’s continued effort to see the brand achieve major milestones in the past year. We are delighted that whilst we have grown our internal team, we have also contributed to creating economic opportunities for the youth in Kenya. We also celebrate the quality, responsible and convenient food delivery services we have provided in partnership with the restaurants on our platform, to many Nairobians especially during the COVID-19 pandemic; keeping people safe and away from crowded places, and offering exciting and intense culinary experiences from the comfort of people’s homes.” said Edgar Kipngetich Kitur, Country Manager, Bolt Food.

The anniversary also provides the brand with a platform to reflect on its achievements, and celebrate its key milestones which include growing its restaurants base from 140 to over 900, launching within 61 sq km and growing to over 3000 sq km coverage with expansions to 13 new areas.

Bolt Food has continued to experience tremendous growth with positive reception and feedback from the public over the past year. In order to give more customers access to a great selection, quality and affordable services available on its platform, the brand has continued to expand its footprints within Nairobi and its environs. Currently, Bolt Food services are now available in over 60 estates covering 3000 sq km within Nairobi and key towns around Nairobi including Kiambu, Kikuyu, Ngong, Kiserian, Athi River and Kitengela towns.

The brand currently has electric motorbikes, e-tuk-tuks, and e-bicycles being used by couriers on its platform, and is taking the lead in offering sustainable and greener options for food deliveries in the industry. The greener food delivery initiatives eliminate the challenges associated with the constantly fluctuating fuel prices, which currently form the highest operating cost for drivers and couriers.

“We are currently making deliveries using electric tuk-tuks and e-bicycles within Nairobi as we look to expand into other towns with the same options. We remain focused on transforming the food delivery sector in Kenya, and we continue to invest in sustainable and innovative products that enhance quality service delivery and great customer experiences at affordable costs,” said Edgar K. Kitur.

As part of the company’s growth and sustainability strategy, Bolt Food continues to facilitate its couriers with the necessary training to ensure quality service delivery, and professionalism in the entire value chain of food delivery.

“We have and continue to invest in our couriers to ensure that we maintain high standards and meet all requirements set forth by the government”, Kitur added. Bolt Food remains committed to scaling up its operations by expanding into major cities and towns in Kenya, and to offer quality services that bolster customer experience, delivery and courier earnings. It also continues to grow its restaurants base on the platform, through continuous onboarding and leveraging its networks and partnerships
